Summer to Fall Transition Pieces

I want to start out by saying that I'm definitely not ready for summer to end. I can't believe it's almost September; this summer flew by way faster than usual. Living in New York, I relish the summer, because I know what's around the corner (snow. ugh). I also really don't like rushing the seasons, it's a huge pet peeve of mine. I almost gasped when I saw Christmas decorations being put out in a drug store today! I think it's important to live in the moment and I try to do that as much as possible. Time goes by way too quickly as it is, so why rush things? That being said, I do love fall, and I know it's coming. To ease the pain of summer ending, I've been scoping out some transition pieces that I can enjoy now and still wear a couple months down the line.

Even though I've always lived in a "four season" state,  I find transitional dressing to be tricky. Come mid-September it doesn't feel appropriate to wear the same lightweight, brightly printed clothing I wore in August, but fall staples like cashmere and boots are still too heavy. I compiled some items below that would be great to wear now, and in early November.

faux leather skirt (in love!) // scarf // polish // mules // plaid dress // field jacket (love it in burgundy) // shirt dress (unique twist on the classic style)
